“Gestalt prayer:

I do my thing and you do your thing.
I am not in this world to live up to your expectations, and you are not in this world to live up to mine.
You are you, and I am I, and if by chance we find each other, it's beautiful.
If not, it can't be helped".

Alternative, short term and powerful psychotherapy

Pleased to meet you!

Welcome to my website. The primary purpose of this website is to provide you with information regarding my practice in Randburg (Johannesburg) and in Brackenfell (Cape Town). I hope you find my site informative, insightful and helpful.

A modern practice

This practice is focusing on alternative, modern, short-term and powerful psychotherapy for the modern human being who does not necessarily have the time nor the money to engage in a time-consuming process of traditional psychotherapy.

The aim of this practice is to find practical and workable solutions to solve your challenge as quickly and powerfully as possible. We are using the latest, most effective and most advanced human technology. The goal is to solve a problem effectively – still within the framework of professionalism, ethical code, confidentiality and with the protection of a professional body.

Alternative psychotherapy

I am a clinical psychologist and although I also use traditional psychodynamic therapy and cognitive therapy, I prefer to use more modern approaches for better and faster results.

The problem with traditional psychotherapy is that traditional therapy addresses the neocortex, the thinking part of your brain.

Your problem is not necessarily situated in this part of your brain. If you knew what you were doing wrong, you could change your mind and to solve the problem.

Psychological problems arise from your reptile and emotional brain. These parts of your brain do not understand language, reason or thought. It is precisely for this reason that in this practice therapeutic techniques are used that work with this specific part of the brain.

Therapeutic techniques

I use the following therapeutic techniques to work with your reptile and emotional brain:

Psychology is a young, dynamic and rapidly evolving science that is literally discovering faster, better and more powerful ways to bring about permanent change on a daily basis. If you still believe that an “ossewa” (ox-wagon) is the best way to travel from the Cape to Johannesburg, aircraft technology may sound to you to be a quick fix. With an airplane you will definitely not explore and discover the landscape, but you will arrive in Johannesburg sooner with the time you have at your disposal.

A little bit more about myself

I have a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology as well as a Master’s degree in Research Psychology (Cum Laude).

I was an elected executive member of the Professional Board for Psychology, previously known as The South African Medical and Dental Council (SAMDC) – now known as the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). I also served on the disciplinary committee to maintain professional conduct of psychologists.

I was a part-time lecturer of philosophy and psychology at the Potchefstroom campus of the North-West University.

I have presented several papers at Hypnosis Congresses in South Africa and internationally. I had an international breakthrough in the hypnotic treatment of Scleroderma (a rare form of Auto-immune diseases) in 2005, after which I presented a paper at an international congress in Poland.  You can read more about it in my article: Mind over Matter.

Life is a journey. The destination of your journey is not necessarily the goal of your journey, but the journey becomes your destination.
